The acrylic template measure 8x11 inches and can be used for layering 3 inch masking tape for the purpose to trace and transfer patterns to your gourd.  You can trace a paper pattern using graphite paper, trace a stencil, rubber stamp on it and free hand drawing.  Once you create the pattern on the tape, score around the pattern with your x-acto knife to remove from template to your gourd.

    Woodburn directly on the tape.

This hard to find tape is a must have for creating perfect 1/2 inch lines on your gourds with no need for measuring.  My book "New Gourd Art with Ink Dyes" by Maria Dellos gives step by step information showing how I use this tape.  I divide the gourd into equal sections allowing the placement of your image to be even and straight on your gourd.  You can burn on each side of the tape making a perfect 1/2" line and then inside the 1/2 inch area, you can add any pattern you want.  You can also design a pattern on the tape with a pencil, then apply the tape to your gourd and woodburn right on top of the tape. To do this, tear off a piece of tape and attach it to a piece of glass, the glass is your work surface allowing you to design on the tape as you wish before adding the tape to you gourd.

This hard to find tape is a must have to transfer a free-hand designed pattern, rubberstamping and tracing a stencil pattern to your gourd for the perfect placement. My book "New Gourd Art with Ink Dyes" by Maria Dellos gives step by step information showing this technique.  To do this, start with a piece of glass about 8x 11 is suggested, tear off the amount of tape to fit the glass, the next piece of tape is then over-lapped about 1/4 inch over the first piece of tape and so on until you cover the glass.  You are now ready to rubberstamp or design on the taped work surface as you wish before adding the tape to your gourd.  Score cut around the image with a hobby knife and carefully pull off the tape, be sure to grab where the pieces are over-lapped so they come off together.  It is suggested to use your heat tool for a few seconds to dry the ink for rubberstamping.  Best ink suggested is Memories Black ink for rubberstamping. Woodburn directly on this tape and when using a professional woodburning tool, remember to keep the temperature dial at 5 or below.  There is no smoke or residue from the tape while working on your gourd.  If there is a little sticky left behind, wipe it off with a little mineral spirits or goo gone and you are ready to continue.
